Contact us
Have questions about building or rebuilding US credit? Contact Credit Footing for general information about our free matching service and your options.
How to reach us
If you have questions about how Credit Footing works, you can contact our team through the site. We help people understand the next step and, if they want, get matched for free with a participating credit-repair or nonprofit credit-counseling provider.
Credit Footing is a free matching service. We are not a credit-repair company, law firm, lender, or financial advisor, and we do not repair credit ourselves.
What we can help with
We can answer general questions about building credit from scratch, rebuilding after mistakes or hardship, and what to expect from a credit-repair or nonprofit credit-counseling provider.
We can also explain how get matched works, what information we ask for, and what happens after you submit your request. You can learn more about us on our About page.
We give general education only. For details about any paid service, always read the provider's written contract carefully.
What you can do for free today
You have the right under federal law to get your credit reports for free and dispute errors yourself at no cost. If something on your report is wrong, you do not have to pay anyone to dispute it.
Be careful with scams. Walk away from any company that promises to erase accurate bad credit, asks for payment before work is done, tells you to dispute true information, or suggests a new credit identity or CPN.
If you choose to work with a credit-repair company, federal law says it cannot charge before the work is done, cannot promise to remove accurate negative information, and must give you a written contract you can cancel within three business days. Rules can vary by state.
What information we ask for
To help with a match, we ask only basic contact and preference information: first name, phone number, optional email, your goal, ZIP code, and preferred language.
We do not need your Social Security number, bank account numbers, date of birth, income, or a full credit report to start. Please do not send that kind of sensitive information through a contact form.
If you choose to get matched, any consent to be contacted by call or text must be clear and separate. Your consent is not required to use our site or get general information.
What happens after you contact us
If your question is about our service, we will do our best to point you in the right direction. If you ask to be matched, a participating provider may contact you to talk about your situation and explain its services, timing, and costs.
Results are never guaranteed. Credit timelines, costs, and outcomes vary by person, by provider, and by what is actually on the credit file.
If you are ready, you can get matched for free.
Contact us if you want general help understanding your options or a free match, but you can also check your reports and dispute errors yourself for free.
Common questions
Does Credit Footing fix my credit?
No. Credit Footing is not a credit-repair company. We are a free matching service that connects people with participating providers and shares general education.
Is it free to contact you or get matched?
Yes. It is free for you to contact Credit Footing and free to request a match. If a provider offers paid services, it should explain those in its written contract.
Do I need to give my Social Security number?
No. We do not ask for your Social Security number to contact us or start a match request. Please do not send SSNs, bank account numbers, or other sensitive financial information through our forms.
Can I dispute credit report errors by myself for free?
Yes. Under the FCRA, you can get your credit reports for free and dispute errors yourself at no cost. Paying a company is optional.
Will getting matched improve my score quickly?
No one can honestly promise that. Credit results depend on your own credit history, what information is accurate, and the steps taken over time.
